AR Building Lets iPhone Users Read its Thoughts

The N Building, situated in a shopping district by Tachikawa station, is now covered top-to-bottom in QR Code — a two-dimensional code that holds information and can be read by digital cameras with the right software.
QR Codes have great applications for advertisers: we can put them on posters when promoting an event, and users can "read" the code to instantly access directions or métro information, for example. In the US and Europe, we’ve gone so far as to furtively slap a teeny little QR Code on a few ads already.
No word on how helpful those are for the handful of people who even know what they signify, but in Japan (or at least Tokyo), most mobile phone owners are able to decode them.
The QR Code building façade was brought to life by Qosmo Inc. and Teradesign. Qosmo also released an iPhone app that enables users to instantly "read" the building. You can get store information, make reservations and — here’s the CRAZY thing! — read real-time tweets by inhabitants with their GPS feature enabled. Here’s a demo of how it works:
I’m still trying to decide if this is amazing or terrifying. Probably both, and anyway it doesn’t matter; it’s the future. Read more about it on Qosmo CEO Nao Tokui’s blog. If you want to try the app itself, no use going to iTunes; you can get it on request by emailing "info [at] qosmo [dot] jp."
