Absolut Colours

 
 

Fortunately, we live in a time and a place where differences are not only respected, but often celebrated. And celebrating our differences is precisely the central theme of the new campaign for Absolut, the most famous Vodka brand in the world.

In order to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the gay pride flag, Absolut had the brilliant idea of dressing its bottle up in the flag’s colors. And just in time for the LGBT community to take to the streets in celebration of its lifestyle. Each summer, Gay Pride Parades take place in cities across the world. And Absolut is taking the time to show its support of the demonstrations.

In addition to the limited edition bottle, the Absolut Colours campaign also includes a "Be proud of your bar" contest, which consists of decorating your favorite bar and keeping it decorated for 15 days. A trip to Stockholm, Sweden and the chance to attend the city’s Euro Pride 2008 on August 2nd is up for grabs.

While we’re on the topic of the LGTB community, isn’t it interesting that in Moscow, a city automatically associated with Vodka (a Russian word meaning “little water”), gay pride demonstrations always end in arguments and physical aggressions? This happens because despite the fact that homosexuality was legalized in the country in 1993, the Russian population still is not tolerant of such demonstrations. We can’t pretend that this is a problem only in Russia, however. A lot of other countries have a long road ahead of them in order to achieve tolerance as well.

Congratulations Absolut for an initiative that proves you know your consumers and are on their side!

I also heard of this exceptional product launch and thought it was a really good idea from Absolut. During the Gay Pride there’s been much communication with respect to this product. It seems to have been welcomed among gay people. For the French speaking people you can have a look at the article wich comes in the link.
