Colophon 2009: The Collaborative Magazine
In March 2009, the Colophon 2009 International Independent Magazine Symposium was held in Luxembourg.
The important event in the world of international magazines, created in 2005 by Mike Koedinger, Jeremy Leslie and Andrew Losowsky, brings together the cream of the crop from global creative magazines for an intensive weekend of conferences, exhibits, discussions, films and networking events every two years. For three days, 2,000 visitors from 35 different countries gathered in Luxembourg to celebrate excellence and innovation in the independent magazine industry.
This year the participants were invited to contribute to a 100 page collaborative magazine, created together during the 3-day symposium. In the end, the magazine had 108 pages and 81 contributors. The magazine was done in real time during the event. The digital version of the magazine was presented on the giant screen of the Luxembourg Philharmonic during the Colophon 2009 closing ceremony. The printed version has just been presented in Luxembourg.
Now, this little collaborative wonder is available online at issuu.com.
The next Colophon symposium will take place on the 11-13 of March 2011. Mark the date on your calendars now! You can find more information on the symposium’s blog.
