Imagine a world without stop signs….
Imagine no one had ever invented the stop sign and that safely getting across an intersection was just a matter of chance… Lets push this hypothetical situation a bit further and imagine that one company was actually hired to create and implement some sort of sign whose goal it was to basically tell people when to stop...
That’s the scenario of “The Process”, a satirical film made in the Netherlands (in English) that tells the story of a creative concept, starting with the brief and covering its evolution until its final form. Ladies and gentlemen, we proudly present the story behind the stop sign!
You’ll love the way the client keeps coming back with more suggestions, especially their descriptions of the target audience (did you know there were male and female intersections?). But we won’t give any more of the film away, watch for yourself:

So what have we learned from this? Keeping it simple is often the best solution, and it’s neither possible nor advisable to communicate 20 things at a time. I am sure that many creative agencies have seen this video and had a good laugh. Irony and satire are often some of the only ways of portraying truth, people need to see the ridiculous before they can connect the dots. This video’s success clearly shows that its creators have clearly hit the nail on the head - it has already been viewed more than 350,000 times and 600+ blogs have written about it.
