MonkeyLectric: Billboards on Bikes

Posted on July 21, 2009

No, we are not speaking of tuning in this post, but of alternative billboards! MonkeyLectric has developed a display technology for bike wheels that lights up using no less than 32 LEDs... check it out!

Aside from the "bling-bling" effect, this method has the particularity of being able to update the message it displays from a distance, without direct intervention. The fact that it lights up also makes it more visible than traditional displays.

As Business Garden says on their blog, this technology coupled with a billboard giant like JC Decaux billboards or the Velibs (the public bike rental service) in Paris would result in very effective urban advertising.

Targeted (geomarketing), ultra-visible (LED), innovative, all one needs is a nice message and it’s in the bag! This could even be viewed on an ecological standpoint for MonkeyLectric: promoting biking in the city, and not wasting paper... So who wants to be the first to advertise on two wheels?
