Mother London Plays Spammy Santa

Most agencies don’t do much hard labour over the holidays. Instead, they bust their figurative balls trying to outdo each other in the holiday greetings department.

In the spirit of giving — and to showcase some wicked wit — Mother London decided to do something different from the pulp comics and self-conscious mini-dramas of their peers.

We give you The Honest $10,000 SPAM.

Nodding to the billions of emails sent to unwitting users by Nigerian princesses, promising kind benefactors untold fortune in exchange for a few minor details (like a social security number), Mother constructed one such message — offering $10,000 in warm holiday cash to the first person to respond with their full name and bank account data.

Of the hundreds sent out, one recipient wrote back. To reward him for his naivété childlike belief in miracles, agency reps visited his office bearing a suitcase full of money.

Guess what he did with it? He donated it to Nigeria. All together now! — "Awwwww."

Not warm and fuzzy enough for you? Don’t worry; you’ll feel the repercussions of this kind gesture when 2010 rolls in with a fresh slew of hope-lubricated spam.
