Oren Lavie’s Stop Motion Video

Just last week, we talked about Coldplay’s innovative puppet show for its Life in Technicolor ii video (read article here). We are pleased to let you know that the music industry has not yet reached the end of its creativity. Just to show you what we mean, we’ve decided to bring you a recently released music video (released January 20) which was just featured last week as one of i-Tunes US’ downloads of the week: Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie.

What would you do with a camera, a nice soundtrack, a bed, a couple, pairs of sheets, an armful of socks, about a dozen pillows, a red scarf, a blanket, and what seems like an endless amount of time? The Israeli singer Oren Lavie found himself in just this situation and created a very cute and fun stop motion music video for his song Her Morning Elegance.

Check it out for yourself:

Stop motion videos take an incredible amount of time as each movement is captured frame by frame. I was so impressed with the video that I immediately hit repeat in order to get some more warm and fuzziness on this gloomy Thursday. I personally love the use of socks as fish, as random props, and as something that wiggles across the woman’s neck (making her smile). I wish I could be her as she jumps from pillow to pillow…it looks like what I imagine jumping from cloud to cloud to look like!

You might already recognize the song, as it was used last year in a Chevy Malibu commercial. I’m curious to know whether you see a conceptual similarity between the two videos. Not generally being much of a fan of Chevy commercials, I was pleasantly surprised to find that until the last 5 seconds when the voice over came on, I was actually paying attention to the ad, watching the baby girl go from a crawler to a business woman. Nonetheless, I definitely prefer Oren Lavie’s stop motion creation. Check it out and let us know what you think:

If you’d like to learn a bit more about Oren Lavie, check out his gallery, read his lyrics, or find out a bit about his The Opposite Side of the Sea album or his A quarter past wonderful label, then head to his beautiful and user-friendly website. This artist is in no way full of himself and I really enjoy seeing how he expresses himself on his website. A nice breath of fresh air!

Simply amazing! I kept thinking how tired that actress must have been after making that stop motion video! haha But very creative! Held my attention the entire time!

TOTALLY LOVING the stop-motion version over the other... could be it’s non commercial purpose too...
