SOL comments: eloquent live banners
When talking about new technologies you often think of Asia or Eastern Europe. This time, however, innovation comes from the North, to be precise from Norway, and the new concept we present here is called “SOL comment ” and consists in a new way of using banner space.
SOL.no is the biggest news website in Norway. This new system allows for leaving handwritten comments on the website. And when we say handwritten, that’s exactly what we mean, because that’s how they are created, thanks to a publishing tool called “live pad”. On this pad you can write and directly comment on articles on the website:

To learn more about how that works you can watch the video here.
The concept is as simple as it’s ingenious: the banner content changes continuously, thank to an especially created programme. A copywriter, whose task is to animate the banner, writes or draws on a pad and the information is transferred to the banner on the screen, exactly as it is and in real time.

A creative and innovative idea that will surely be copied by many. The question is just if they will manage to be as brilliant as the original. Anyway, we are cuurious to find out what new ideas will be sparked by this concept.
