The Future of Viral Videos

Feed Agency, an online marketing agency based in Los Angeles has recently released an interesting study on how viral video use among communications agencies is developing. 40 agency heads were asked to give their opinions on the media format. For the most part, the responses were positive in terms of the future of viral videos over the next few years.

Are clients interested in viral videos? 49% are interested, 23% are very interested, and 28% are quite interested.

As you can see, clients are no longer hesitant about this new type of media. Actually, these days it’s quite the opposite—clients are really putting a lot of effort into viral video campaigns. It is expected to become a standard communication media in 3 years according to 70% of those surveyed!

This expectation is based on concrete results. Specifically, 75% of those surveyed are satisfied with the results of their viral video campaigns. 50% of those surveyed believe that a viral video is successful if it receives at least 500,000 views.

Will your agency increase viral video production? If so, by how much?

We are already well on our way to reaching the 3 year prediction in that 70% of agencies questioned are planning budget increases for this type of campaign. More than 30%, as explained in the above graph, will increase viral video production by 25%. Over 20% of agencies surveyed will increase their viral video production by 50%.

It bears mentioning that agencies still see viral videos as a young media. The biggest problem with this new media is the difficulty in tracking its statistics. Nevertheless, it is a very promising sector.

For your enjoyment, you can find the complete study below.
