Top 5 Barack Obama’s Viral Marketing
Barack Obama is the 2008 marketer of the year, all categories combined. With the help of his teams, he has created an unprecedented multi-channel communication strategy. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, Obama is everywhere: more than 1,600 videos published on his YouTube page, his own Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc…and we can’t forget to mention all the content that Obama supporters have unofficially created for their presidential candidate.
1. The "HOPE" poster

The barackobama.com website is an excellent "best study" about political communication. Some have criticized its lack of graphic creativity, but others have stressed its user-friendliness. The site has:

a tax savings calculator
a social network
online donation capability: "Donate and get a gift"
goodies to customize your computer
online supporter store
event invitations
personalized page
links to: Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Flickr, Digg, Twitter, eventful, Linkedin, blackplanet, faithbase, eons, glee, MiGente, MyBatanga, AsianAve, DNC Partybuilder
one section dedicated to putting an end to Obama smears: www.fightthesmears.com
etc.
“If you knew that visiting your grandparents could change the world, would you do it?” This is the question that Jewish comedian and Obama supporter Sarah Silverman posed to young Jews in her The Great Schlep video, in which she tries to convince young people to visit their grandparents (or older family members) and convince them (especially if they live in Florida) to vote for Obama. The video was a huge hit, getting 7 million views in just 2 weeks.
