Viral Film Festival: Check out the winners!

 
 

On April 28th in New York City, the first ever Viral Film Festival took place. This event organized by Vanksen|Culture-Buzz, the BeFilm Festival and Dailymotion brought some of the best viral videos of the last two years from the web to the big screen.

Before the festival several pre-selection rounds took place, until finally 38 films (out of over 100) were chosen for the final round. This event, the first of its kind had been supported by international bloggers, but also by viral video and buzz marketing reference sites such as www.viralvideo.co.uk in the UK or Ninja Marketing in Italy.

The jury consisted of Norman Vale (former CEO of Grey Advertising and former director of the International Advertising Association), Lizzy Klein (director of the website Zagat.com, the first online restaurant guide in the USA) and Moenen Erbuer (Design Director at Duval Guillaume New York). They had a lot on their plates and very tough choices to make. In the end, the three best viral videos of the batch received awards/honorable mentions in front of an audience of about 60 viral film aficionados.

The third prize was awarded to "Internet People" by Dan Meth, presented by Daily Motion:

The Perrier advert "Healthier" by Ogilvy NY came in second:

And the winner was "Trafic" by Michael Sugarman!

We are looking forward to the next festival in 2009!
