A viral video: AXE UK in line with Dove
In the UK, AXE (known as Lynx) has launched a new advertising spot that is quite different from anything that we have ever seen from them.
No super models in bikinis, instead, what do we find? “Normal” girls, in a normal situation, dressed in jeans, sitting in a pub having a drink together!
We can only note a clear strategic break in communications. Is this to prevent further criticism (we had reported here about the heated debates that had been caused by the advertisements for Axe and Dove that are both under the Unilever group), or are we simply witnessing a new creative outburst in line with the previous strategy? The number one rule of advertising has always been: "if it works, keep doing it until it doesn’t." (Don’t beautiful naked girls sell anymore?)
At any rate, this spot proves one basic thing: it is also possible to create humorous and cheeky advertising with girls that are fully dressed!
