An Alternative Bus Stop to Raise Awareness
Hearing problems often affect young music lovers. In fact, seven out of ten people under 30 are currently experiencing symptoms of permanent hearing damage due to loud music. However, this damage is not only the result of going to concerts where blaring music reigns. In fact, young people are putting themselves at risk by simply listening to their iPods with the volume on full blast. The National Foundation for the Deaf (NFD) has decided to turn to the advertising agency DDB New Zealand in order to take action. DDB New Zealand has thus created a "Testing Station," an interactive outdoor device of sorts. All you have to do is turn on your music at your volume, place the earphones in the station’s ear and find out if you listen to music at dangerous levels.
DDB New Zealand has also come up with some wonderful posters that get the message across. Just take a look...it’s sure to attract attention. We all cringe at a screeching train...why do that to your ears?
