’Breaking Bad’ Juxtaposes POTUS to Pusher

Here’s the story: outerwear brand Weatherproof found an AP photo of Obama sporting one of its coats, and used that picture to post a huge billboard in the middle of Times Square.
The photo is of Obama foregrounding the Great Wall during his last trip to China. To his left is the brand, WEATHERPROOF, and the caption, "A Leader in Style."
By now you know how anal AP can be when it feels like its snatch has been stolen, so the presence of the ad has stirred a bit o’ legal ruckus. In any event, it’s been up for the last three weeks and only went down yesterday.
But before it did, AMC managed to steal some of the torchlight by erecting a billboard of its own. The board promotes the next season of Breaking Bad and features the main character, a drug dealer, in the same pose as Obama — flanked by the Great Wall and everything — with the words, "YOUGOTNOPROOF — A Dealer in Style."

This masterpiece of appropriation (itself an appropriation) appears right next to the Weatherproof sign with POTUS ("President of the United States," that is).

As the ENT blog so eloquently put it, "Not sure which billboard Obama prefers now..."
