Ebay | Advertising 2.0
Some brands face certain dilemmas: how do you sell a brand that sells everything? The French division of the online auction website eBay has solved this dilemma in a new and creative way. For the first time ever, a company has put its online advertising space up for auction.
Isn’t this brilliant? People can create their own advertisement for their product. 2.0 is a symbol of the new generation - or simply for a great idea. We all love to be 2.0, well eBay.fr has now secured itself the title of a "2.0 advertiser" with this campaign.
How much would i bid for this creative concept? Let me think... I will give it an A+. Two thumbs up. I am nonetheless skeptical that non-technology-savvy people might not catch on. Do you LOVE eBay? I have information for you then, something to think about:
In April 2008, the personal information of over 60% of all eBay Korea users was hacked by a foreign hacker. Which means that personal information including social security numbers, credit card numbers and passwords were stolen, and only God knows who is now using their personal information, for what and where.
If personal information is not a big deal for you, then at least try to avoid purchasing counterfeit goods on eBay, because L’Oreal, Hermès, LVMH and a couple of other brands have made formal complaints to eBay for selling counterfeited goods. If you would like to sue eBay, the following link might be helpful: how to sue eBay and PayPal.
