Human Network Live Effect - The New Reality

If you’re not in Italy or don’t speak Italian, than it might be a bit difficult for you to really know what Human Network Live Effect (HNLE) is. But thanks to globalization and the breaking of language barriers, you can now find out. HNLE is a green reality. What does that mean? Think Big Brother meets Al Gore. It’s a reality show with a whole new perspective.

From Monday, September 22 to Friday, September 26, 5 well-known Italians are taking part in an online reality. Participants include a big name in the Italian blogosphere (Luca Conti, who also works for BuzzParadise), a writer/filmmaker, a fashion expert, a singer/celebrity and a traveler/creator of an online community. However, it should come as no surprise that the traveler isn’t actually living on the reality set. She’s traveling, of course. And we can follow her Italian escapades and find out just how much energy she is using. The same applies to everyone else: we can keep an eye on their energy use on www.hnle.it. This is where the green part comes in.

How is this reality green? Well, first of all, 4 out of the 5 participants live in a Leaf House. You might be wondering how close to a leaf this house really is. Well before you let your imagination run wild, let me just tell you that is is 100% environmentally friendly. It runs on renewable energy (solar, like a leaf!) and is emission free. This is a great initiative and really interesting, unlike your typical reality where everyone is just trying to become famous for hooking up with as many people on the set as they can or win a prize for being the rudest or most annoying. These are real people who talk about important topics: social or personal issues, NGOs, the Internet, etc. They invite guests via conference call to share their stories or ideas and are even auctioning off a CUPCAKE FOR LOVE on eBay to raise money for children in India and help out an Italian NGO. What a wonderful way to share your day-to-day with the Web: by helping others and the environment!
