Interactive Advertising Outlook 2009

The Interactive Advertising Bureau has just released its predictions for 2009: Interactive Advertising Outlook 2009. The presentation was submitted to the JP Morgan Chase Virtual Advertising Summit.

Here are some of the highlights of the presentation:

- During the first 9 months of 2008, interactive advertising brought in $17 billion in revenue.
- Interactive advertising is the fastest-growing display medium. While most display mediums are losing ground (ex: 10% reduction in newspaper media), interactive advertising saw a 7% growth rate.
- The amount of time consumers spend online grew from 9.4 hours per week in 2001 to 15.3 hours per week in 2007. As the number of US online households increases (expected to grow from 84.2 million in 2006 to 97 million in 2012), the amount of time consumers spend online increases, and the more consumers are willing to accept online advertising in exchange for free content (70% of young consumers are already for this), the more interactive advertising will grow.
- Despite problems in today’s economy, interactive advertising is on the rise. Consumers are increasingly more receptive to this type of advertising in which brands have a new way to engage consumers and to learn about their needs.

The presentation is a quick read and highly recommended for anyone interested in online media. Check it out here:
