Knitting grannies 2.0 (Switzerland)
Maybe you have heard of the initiative recently launched by a Swiss 38 year old called Caesar von Däniken?
If not, maybe Netgranny rings a bell?
No? Well then, this is a very nice little launch I discovered while reading ’Le Point’ last week. The concept is a bit surprising but its success is totally understandable in my opinion: Grandmothers knit socks for internet users, for 27 Euros a pair. They receive the total of the revenues and can earn an extra 100 Euros each per month.
Internet users can choose their favorite granny from a photo and two weeks later they receive their socks… It’s to no surprise that waiting lists have been growing!
In short, I think this idea is great:
The grannies can earn a few extra euros to supplement their retirement incomes.
They can make use of the time that their grandchildren no longer have for them.
Everyone can regain a bit of nostalgia and authenticity, for just a little more than the price of a pair of Burlingtons.
Isn’t that great?!
Personally I simply love this ideas. Soon you will also be able to command mittens, and when will there be pullovers?
Why not extend the concept?
