Symantec Norton Upgrades to 2.0 with Norton-Café.fr

Symantec, expert in computer security and maker of Norton products, is spearheading the creation of a new and promising community platform. Norton-café is now available in France and allows users to exchange computer security information, whether they are directly tied to Symantec brand products or not. And none other than Vanksen was there to join them on their adventure.

This web 2.0 service-oriented platform allows users to post all sorts of questions regarding viruses, data protection, phishing and so on. Users can answer other users’ queries in a sort of knowledge exchange so that everyone can participate. In the interest of promoting freedom of expression and neutrality, Symantec only intervenes to correct information or deny rumors as well as to approve discussions that provide clear and complete answers. Discussions approved by such a big name in computer security will give users the comfort of knowing that the information they receive is reliable.

It’s worth mentioning that moderation takes place a posteriori, a sort of transparency pledge that the company takes pride in providing. In this way, questions can receive answers quickly.

The ingenious interface (powered by the Feedback2.0 platform) gives users the chance to tag questions, vote for the best responses and in this way the most interesting ones are placed on top. Every member also has a set score based on his/her activity.

In occasion of the Norton-Café.fr launch, Symantec has chosen us to promote their new space in the blogosphere. Therefore, our agency, BuzzParadise selected 30 influential bloggers in order to test Norton Internet Security 2008 (a complete set of tools for your computer) in addition to the new community platform. They had access to the latter 1 week before its official release. They also seemed to have good fun with the USB missile they received ;)
