Resistance 2018: Play On Twitter
For the launch of its video game for the film Terminator Salvation on PlayStation, Sony Studios has launched an innovative advergame. Resistance 2018 is played on Twitter (the microblogging service). It already has 2015 followers, all united for one cause: surpassing artificial intelligence. Just to remind you, Terminator Salvation, directed by Joseph McGinty Nichol (a.k.a McG), is all about the battle against Skynet waged by John Connor.
The principle of the game lies in accomplishing missions by resolving enigmas and answering coded questions based on the characters and the plot of the movie. A few tweets liven up the film and bring new information about this war between men and machines. The objective is to get as many points as possible and answer in the least amount of time possible. The more points you get, the more you get promoted and have the possibility of joining other squads, including John Connor’s. More points also increase the difficulty of the game.
This ingenious promotional technique is the first of its kind on Twitter. It kills two birds with one stone by creating a synergy between the video game and the film. As we mentioned in the CAC Top 40 Companies Absent from Twitter article, this social network offers considerable commercial opportunities...
