South Park Vs. YouTube: The Gloves are Off!

Posted on April 7, 2008
Julie Le Vacon

Last night the four heroes of South Park created a lot of buzz when they directly attacked the web giant duo Google/YouTube.

Viacom, the owner of MTV and Nickelodeon, has just sued YouTube for 1 billion dollars, accusing the company of "massive intentional copyright infringement". South Park has now added its voice to the debate, by releasing an episode (also posted on YouTube...) that is worth watching.

In this video you will encounter some of the famous YouTube “Internet stars”:

- "Chocolate Rain" Original Song by Tay Zonday
- Samwell - "What What (In the Butt)"
- Tron Guy
- Numa Numa
- Star Wars Kid
- Sneezing Panda
- Dramatic Gopher
- Chris Crocker - LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!
- Hahaha (laughing baby)
- Afro Ninja

This episode makes fun of the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike and, as usual, ends on a dry humorous note.

i’m not sure if the poster realizes this, but the episode was primarily an attack on the Writers Guild of America... Superficially it was a comment on internet celebrity and how little ’value’ it actually incurs.

Couldnt agree w/ the 1st comment more. You totally missed the point of the episode that theres aboslutely NO WAY you can value how much the internet and other sorts of digital media are worth, the crux of the writers strike.

They’re (choc. rain, laughing baby) all theoretical millionaires, but how much $$ do they actually have?

Now does Viacom really understand they also violated rights on youtube as well? All youtube has to do is counter sue. This is ridiculous.
