Stella App Hones in on Watering Holes

Stella Artois has released a free app called Le Bar Guide, which lets users search by zip code, country or review-based quality for the nearest bar serving hops from the golden chalice.

As expected, you can read reviews, write them and rate establishments based on things like ambiance and clientèle. But probably the most interesting thing about the app is that, if you’re an iPhone 3GS user, you can use the augmented reality feature to guide you in real-time to the nearest Stella-pushing dive.

It’s a honing device for alkies!

A responsible one nonetheless. A feature called "Le Taxi" gives you local taxi numbers, and lets you call them directly, in the event that you’ve had one sip too many.

If you want one such app of your own, just not Stella’s, that’s cool too. Visit Acrossair, which developed Le Bar Guide on the beer brand’s behalf.

That’s definitely a great app! Although I wonder how many are still able to use their smartphone after they have had their Stella’s! Still adding the taxi app is a good thing. But the waterhole thing is not really clear to me!?

Oh, "waterhole" is just a metaphor for "dive bar." Forgive the confusion! =P
