Nokia Partners-Up with WWF

The WWF has spent 35 years in the fight for land and species preservation and 35 years in the fight to save the world’s biodiversity.

Today, the World Wildlife Fund’s emblematic symbol, the panda, is on the organization’s list of endangered species. Only 1,600 of these animals remain. To remind people of the panda’s importance, 1,600 paper mache pandas have been placed around the most important Paris monuments. The picture below shows the pandas in the Paris City Hall Square:

The symbolic gesture doesn’t end there, however. Nokia has decided to support the WWF by launching a limited edition Nokia N96. Nokia has even created a website, Face the Task, for the occasion. There, visitors can watch an animated introduction video about the limited edition N96, as well as try to win a phone by participating in the website’s online quiz.

In addition to trying to win the Nokia N96 by participating in the online quiz, visitors can buy the phone for €759 ($1200), all of which will be given directly to the WWF. The website design is simple and attractive, with a very Asian touch that can’t help but remind us of movies like Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon.

This operation, supported by the WWF, once again shows how effective parnerships between brands and organizations can be.
