UPS goes widget
The American package delivery company UPS (United Parcel Service Inc.) has just launched its very first widget, a tool that allows real-time access to information directly from the desktop of your computer.

UPS has been advertising this with a huge billboard action, using 4x3 meter billboards, especially in the metro in Paris (this is a premiere for this kind of product). The brand hopes to win regular users’ confidence for this kind of service, by guaranteeing them a high quality, personalised follow-up.
But apart from the widget the whole web measure surrounding this action is a good move. The dedicated website, based on a merry 3D animation featuring an anthropomorphic character, highlights the sympathy capital of the American postal service provider.
From a practical point of view, downloading the widget is quickly done, the module is available in three languages (English, French, German), the configuration is automatic, and using it is easy.
You can follow up to 100 parcels while keeping up to date about any news that interest you thanks to a personalizable RSS feed.

The buzz has already started and no doubt confirmed UPS in its position as a world leader in terms of postal services and logistics.
